George Kittle, the team’s standout tight end, recently shared his unwavering support for Purdy with NBC Sports Bay Area, a month ahead of the team’s training camp.
Kittle lauded Purdy, a former seventh-round pick, as “the guy” for the quarterback position. “He looks like the guy, which is really nice,” Kittle remarked.
He emphasized Purdy’s consistent presence and demeanor, noting his daily efforts in the building and his unwavering competitiveness. “He’s the same guy every single day,” Kittle added. “It’s fun seeing him yell at guys when they don’t hit the route depth, if they have the wrong landmark. He’s taking control of the offense and making it his.”

Kittle also highlighted the synergy between Purdy and the 49ers’ head coach, Kyle Shanahan. While Shanahan calls the plays, Kittle noted, “It’s Kyle, and Kyle’s calling the plays, but Brock’s getting guys to do what he wants them to do, which is really fun to see.”
For his part, Purdy expressed gratitude for having a full offseason to integrate fully with his teammates and refine his skills. Speaking at the Niners’ “State of the Franchise” event, he discussed the importance of this time for personal growth and team cohesion. “We’re right there and weren’t able to finish it,” Purdy reflected on past performances.
He detailed his offseason activities, saying, “Here, in OTAs, getting with Kyle and going over all the games that we played in, every play, and going over situational football and stuff, and taking that and actually going out on the field and running things and repping things, and throwing to the receivers. Last year, I didn’t have that, so now that I’m able to attack those kinds of things, I feel like I’ve gotten better.”
While Purdy has already become one of the better narratives in the NFL due to his unexpected rise and steady performance, he remains focused on achieving the ultimate goal—a Super Bowl victory.
