Sheffield, son of nine-time MLB All-Star Gary Sheffield, was ejected last Sunday from a New England Collegiate Baseball League contest between the Danbury Westerners and Valley Blue Sox at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass.
The Westerners’ outfielder came up to bat with a man on first and nobody out in the top of the 6th inning.
Sheffield took a strike on the first pitch, which appeared to be far off the plate. Then, with a 1-2 count, he struck out looking on a pitch that seemed well inside.
Sheffield protested the call, exchanging heated words with the home plate umpire, who ultimately ejected him from the game.

The broadcast camera followed Sheffield as he made his way to the parking lot, continuing to argue with the umpire until he left the playing field.
The Westerners allowed eight runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and lost the game 13-5.
Sheffield entered Sunday’s game with a .225 batting average and went hitless in his three plate appearances.
