On Friday, Stockton Kings center Chance Comanche was arrested on an open murder charge related to the death of a 23-year-old woman, Marayna Rodgers. Comanche and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, were taken into custody as suspects in Rodgers’ disappearance, which initially led to charges of first-degree kidnapping. However, following Rodgers’ confirmed death, the charges were amended to open murder.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a statement on Sunday, revealing that early evidence of foul play pointed to Comanche and Harnden as the primary suspects in the case.
FBI agents arrested Comanche in Sacramento County, Calif., on Friday without a warrant, and he is currently held at the Sacramento County Main Jail with no bail eligibility, according to jail records. Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday for kidnapping charges and is booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
Rodgers was reported missing on December 7 after a prearranged meeting with Harnden on December 5. Human remains discovered in a desert area in Henderson, Nev., were later identified by the Clark County Coroner as belonging to Rodgers.
