The Los Angeles Lakers are exploring all options for improvement this summer, and Chris Paul could be part of their long-term strategy.
According to NBA insider Eric Pincus, the veteran point guard has emerged as a plausible target for the team during an offseason filled with uncertainty.
“I would be remiss without mentioning Chris Paul as a real possibility,” Pincus said. “There’s a reasonable chance he gets traded or cut by the Warriors. He and LeBron have a close relationship. There’s a scenario where the Lakers sign Chris Paul. It makes a lot of sense to me. Is Chris coming for the minimum? I don’t know. I don’t want to say he comes cheap to the Lakers, but if there’s no better offer, I could see that happening.”

Chris Paul, 39, just completed his 18th NBA season and plans to continue his career in the 2024-25 campaign.
After averaging 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game on 44.1% shooting for the Warriors, Paul demonstrated he can still contribute to a contending team.
He remains a valuable playmaker, ball handler, and locker room leader.
Currently under contract through the 2024-25 season, Paul is guaranteed another $30 million before his deal expires.
The Warriors would need to trade him or buy him out to remove his contract from their books.
Although the Lakers have limited assets, they could make an offer if he becomes available via trade or free agency.
They have ample space in the backcourt for his experience, leadership, and basketball IQ.
Ultimately, the decision rests with Rob Pelinka.
As the President and GM of Basketball Operations, he has full control over roster moves.
Committing a roster spot to an aging Chris Paul might not be the most advantageous decision for the franchise.
