French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati went viral after an unfortunate incident involving his “big” bulge led to his elimination from the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday.
As the 21-year-old athlete attempted his vault, his package, highlighted by his skin-tight uniform, inadvertently struck the crossbar. This mishap caused the bar to fall, shattering Ammirati’s hopes of winning an Olympic medal.
Although the failed attempt did not automatically disqualify Ammirati, his score of 5.60 meters was insufficient to advance him to the next round. This disappointing outcome came after he had previously secured gold at the World Athletics U20 Championships in 2022.
Spectators watched the unusual episode unfold in slow motion during the qualifying track and field event, quickly turning to social media to create memes and share their reactions.
“21-year-old French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati may have lost out on Olympic Gold, but I see big things in his future,” one X user quipped.
Another fan cheekily commented, “Oh, he brought that baguette to the games.”
“He’s going to stroll out of this Olympics with more ladies’ phone numbers than medals!” a third viewer joked.
“When big d–k energy has an actual big d–k,” added a fourth amused fan.
“The one time in your life you wish your pen15 was smaller,” another commented.

Ammirati has not publicly addressed his head-turning loss, but France’s Envol sports club, where he trains, celebrated his efforts with a dedicated Instagram post on Saturday.
“We are proud of you @anthony_ammirati despite the last two weeks of being physically disturbed you managed to show up, even though we are frustrated like you for that 5m70 bar,” the club, founded by Olympian Renaud Lavillenie, wrote.
Before his unfortunate elimination, Ammirati expressed his excitement about being selected for the Paris Games—his first Olympics. He shared his enthusiasm on social media, posting a throwback photo of himself as a child on the track alongside a recent picture.
“Memories….. A childhood dream coming true,” he penned. “A big thank you to the whole team that accompanies me every day in my struggles! We did it.”
