Former NFL cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested for the second time in nine months, this time following an altercation involving multiple police officers during a drug-related incident.
On Saturday, officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to a scene, which escalated when they attempted to arrest Breeland. According to reports, Breeland resisted arrest and assaulted several officers before being taken into custody.
In addition to facing potential drug-related charges, the 2020 Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs is now also charged with assaulting the officers. This information comes from the Charlotte Observer.
Breeland’s legal troubles aren’t new; he was previously arrested last August when he was found in possession of drugs, firearms, and a stolen vehicle. The case from 2023 is still pending, and he is scheduled for another court appearance in October.

During his latest arrest, firearms were reportedly discovered at the residence where he was arrested. Breeland has not been active in the NFL since his stint with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, after spending two years with the Kansas City Chiefs and being originally drafted by the Washington Commanders.
The arrest revealed Breeland was allegedly in possession of several containers likely containing marijuana and five bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, a sedative used primarily to treat nausea.
Previously, in August 2020, Breeland was arrested on charges related to drug and alcohol use and resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty to those charges in October of the same year and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
