Life for an NFL wife isn’t always easy.
Landyn Hutchinson, an influencer and lifestyle blogger who is married to Hall-of-Fame guard Steve Hutchinson, recently discussed the dynamics of being an NFL wife.
During her appearance on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast” with hosts Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick, Hutchinson shared her observations about how some players treat their girlfriends and wives during games.
“The NFL is a real interesting place,” Landyn said. “There is a lot of downtime and there is a lot of travel and these guys have money and they’re in shape. They’re living the dream.”
She pointed out that, unfortunately, wives are often given priority in the first row, while girlfriends are seated three rows back.
“Here’s the thing about the NFL and it’s sad but true — but like, the wives are in the first row and the girlfriends are three rows back,” Landyn said last month on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast” with hosts Lauryn Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick via NY Post.
“It’s not so much the men and the testosterone. It’s more the women and the estrogen. It was a very threatening almost place to be in if you’re not in the right mindset because I can imagine being really insecure.
“I’ve been to training camps where the girlfriends are in a hotel down the street and the wives are there with the kids at the picnics. Nobody knows anything. It wasn’t anyone that I knew personally, but you just know. It just happens and I’m not [saying it’s] a blanket statement to the entire NFL or professional sport.”
This inequality within the NFL was highlighted further in a video response by current NFL wife Allison Kuch, who showcased herself sitting in the first row at a Raiders preseason game and proudly displayed her wedding ring before indicating the position of the girlfriends in the seating arrangement.
