Having a bit of liquid courage doesn’t always lead to positive outcomes.
Kyle Long recently expressed regret for a past encounter with Stephen A. Smith, recalling a moment where he confronted the sports media personality over comments made about his former teammate, Jay Cutler.
During an episode of the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, the former Pro Bowl offensive lineman shared his remorse for the incident, describing it as one of his biggest regrets in life. Long admitted that he was intoxicated at a Super Bowl party early in his career when he approached Smith, attempting to defend Cutler.
“One of my biggest regrets in life involves Stephen A. Smith, and it’s something that I think about often,” Long said. “It’s one of those things where you’ll be laying in bed and you’re reminded of something you did that was embarrassing. And you’re like, ‘(expletive), is this a bad dream?'”
Reflecting on the encounter, Long acknowledged feeling embarrassed by his actions and expressed a desire to make amends with Smith. He recounted the incident with honesty, admitting to feeling foolish in hindsight.
While Smith has likely faced similar confrontations from other athletes he has criticized over the years, Long’s apology serves as a reminder of the impact of impulsive actions and the importance of taking responsibility for them.
Also serves as a reminder not to over indulge in alcohol.
