With the presidential election looming just over a month away, Donald Trump is receiving notable support from a former NFL player—longtime kicker Jay Feely. Feely, who enjoyed a 13-year career in the NFL, expressed his admiration for the former president during an appearance on “Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich,” making it clear that he believes Trump performed better in office compared to the current Biden-Harris administration.
During the interview, Feely passionately compared Trump’s presidency, particularly the three years before the COVID-19 pandemic, to the first term of Joe Biden. He emphasized his belief that Trump outperformed the current administration on key issues that impact everyday Americans, such as the economy, national security, and border control.
“If you look at Donald Trump objectively and assess his three or four years in office—really, the three years before COVID hit—and compare that to four years of the Biden-Harris administration, by any objective measure, Donald Trump did a better job,” Feely stated in the interview with OutKick. “You talk about the things that matter to people at home—whether it’s the economy, safety, housing, or border control—Trump, in every respect, was more effective than the Biden administration.”

Feely’s support goes beyond just words, as he revealed he is actively working to help Trump win back the critical swing state of Arizona, where Feely played several years as a kicker for the Arizona Cardinals. Winning Arizona would be a major victory for the Republican Party in terms of electoral votes, as the state has become a significant battleground in recent elections.
“There’s over 200,000 registered Republicans in Arizona who didn’t vote in the last presidential election,” Feely noted. “If even half of those people vote—just half of the registered Republicans—Trump wins the state of Arizona. And the same holds true in many of these swing states. Republicans just need to get out and vote for Trump. To me, it’s hard to understand how someone wouldn’t, because the two parties have never been further apart.”
Arizona has proven to be a pivotal state in recent elections, with razor-thin margins determining the outcome. Feely’s efforts are focused on mobilizing the Republican voter base in the state, particularly those who abstained from voting in 2020. With such a large pool of untapped Republican voters, Feely believes that increasing turnout could make the difference in flipping Arizona back to the GOP column in 2024.
Feely’s support for Trump isn’t surprising given his public stance on conservative issues, but his active role in trying to sway the Arizona electorate adds a new dimension to his involvement. Having played for several NFL teams between 2001 and 2014—including the Falcons, Giants, Dolphins, Chiefs, Jets, Bears, and, most notably, the Arizona Cardinals—Feely is a well-known figure, particularly in Arizona, where he made 85.2% of his field goal attempts during his tenure with the team.
The former NFL kicker’s advocacy underscores how sports figures are increasingly stepping into political arenas, using their platforms to rally support for causes and candidates they believe in.
Whether Feely’s efforts will translate into success for Trump in Arizona remains to be seen, but the importance of turnout in key swing states will undoubtedly be critical in determining the outcome of the 2024 election.
As election day approaches, the involvement of influential figures like Feely could have a real impact on voter engagement, especially in battleground states where even a small uptick in turnout can make a substantial difference.
Time will tell if Feely’s efforts can help propel Trump to victory in Arizona this November.
