Joel Embiid has long been a target for New York Knicks fans, and his participation in their current playoff series has only intensified their disdain.
Now, Knicks legend Charles Oakley has voiced his criticism, suggesting that if Embiid is really hurt, he might as well “stay home and watch it on TV.”
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio’s “The Starting Lineup,” Oakley expressed his frustration with Embiid’s demeanor on the court. “If you’re hurt, stay home and watch it on TV like everybody else is doing. I don’t want to hear this, ‘I’m giving it my all.’ You’re a seven-footer shooting 3s. I mean, you stand out around the 3-point line what the guards gonna do? So I think that, you know, they cry too much. All these guys in the league cry too much. He’s too big to be crying,” Oakley said.

Oakley also reflected on his previous praise for Embiid, where he once compared him to Wilt Chamberlain, but now jests that Embiid could be the next “Dunkin Donut” due to his complaints.
Meanwhile, the Knicks lead the series 3-1, largely due to the standout performances from point guard Jalen Brunson, whom Oakley lauded as the best Knick since Clyde Frazier. Oakley praised Brunson for his leadership and ability to make the game enjoyable and to inspire his teammates to elevate their play.
Game 5 of the series between the Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers is set for tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET.
