NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is facing criticism on Monday morning following an incident where the league’s official Facebook account seemed to have been “hacked” by a former employee.
The “hacker,” in a now-deleted post, took shots at the NBA and its commissioner.
Starting with the question, “How do I log out of this?” the post went on to criticize the NBA’s treatment of its social media employees.
See below:
The post highlighted long working hours without breaks and a salary of less than $50k annually after taxes, along with delayed health insurance benefits.
The author expressed gratitude for resigning and encouraged donations to mental health causes.
While the identity of the “hacker” remains unknown, many speculate it to be a former NBA employee.
The basketball community responded to the incident with mixed opinions.
One fan acknowledged the problematic nature of 14-hour shifts without breaks for a below-average salary, but found the delayed benefits to be somewhat commonplace.
Another fan commented that similar issues may be prevalent in other big companies’ treatment of social media employees.
Hopefully, he finds success with his own company as his actions and achievements at his previous workplace will be recognized by other companies.
