Disturbing news surrounding a former Minnesota Twins player.
On Friday, former MLB player Dustan Mohr, aged 47, received his sentence after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving a teenage girl whom he was a softball coach for.
Mohr was handed a nine-year jail term in Indiana for three charges related to sexually fondling a 13-year-old girl on multiple occasions over a six-month period.
According to reports from WANE 15, the girl’s family had engaged Mohr’s services to provide softball coaching at the Strike Zone Training Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
They had chosen the facility believing it to be a safe environment for their daughter’s training.
“This was not a safe place,” the girl’s father told Allen Superior Court, in Fort Wayne.
Mohr reportedly sexually fondled the girl who he was aware was only 13 years old.
Other accusations against Mohr include sexually touching the girl inside his vehicle and providing the girl with a phone so they could secretly communicate and share pictures.
In addition, the girl’s father says that Mohr spread lies about him and told his daughter that he was “an awful person that was mentally and emotionally abusive.”
Mohr was eventually caught in the act as despite gaining access to the girl’s phone and blocking parental controls, the girl’s father tracked his daughter’s location to Mohr’s home and rescued her from a sexual assault.

The former outfielder was arrested on August 9, 2023, for crimes dating back to May 2023 and earlier.
In March, Mohr pleaded guilty to three felony charges: Child Solicitation, Child Seduction (Fondling/Touching with intent to arouse a minor between the ages of 14-16), and Sexual Misconduct with a minor, all classified as Felony 5 offenses according to inmate records.
A Felony 5 sentence typically ranges from one to six years each.
On Friday, Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull sentenced Mohr to 15 years, with six years suspended.
The victim’s family, describing Mohr as a “monster,” had requested the maximum sentence of 18 years from Judge Gull.
Mohr played in the big leagues from 2001 to 2007 for the Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
It’s certain that none of his prior teams or Major League Baseball as an organization will want to have any connection to Mohr in the face of his horrific crimes.
