New Orleans Saints linebacker Willie Gay Jr., a former player for the Kansas City Chiefs and teammate of Rashee Rice, took to social media on Thursday to defend the wide receiver amidst criticism following his involvement in a multiple-vehicle car crash over the weekend.
Rice has faced scrutiny for reportedly being the driver of a Lamborghini involved in a significant highway accident in Dallas last Saturday.
Witnesses claim that Rice and others left the scene of the crash without checking on any of the other victims.
The accident on Saturday involved six vehicles and caused significant damage to multiple vehicles, according to local law enforcement.
Rice’s conversation with the Dallas Police Department on Wednesday is thought to mark his initial contact with authorities regarding the incident.
Rice’s former teammate linebacker Willie Gay Jr. had some thoughts on social media defending Rice.
“A GREAT person; s***, we all make mistakes and have to learn from our actions as a part of growing up. We believe in Gods grace forget what a man says.”
Gay and Rice played this past season for the Chiefs in 2023.
Willie Gay was drafted out of Mississippi State in 2020 by the Chiefs and had spent his entire career with them up until 2023.
This offseason, Gay signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints
