Russell Wilson had a disappointing first year with the Denver Broncos.
The team struggled, winning only five games, and their head coach was fired before the season ended.
Despite this, there are high hopes for Wilson to bounce back in the upcoming season.
The team has a strong supporting cast, including Javonte Williams returning from injury, and a new head coach in Sean Payton.
However, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum believes Wilson will be benched at some point during the 2023 season, which would be a surprising turn of events.
"I would be shocked if Russell Wilson was the starter for 17 games this season. … If Russell Wilson has the smallest bump in the road, he will be benched."

The Broncos have a significant investment in Wilson and do not have an easy way out of his contract.
Additionally, their backup quarterbacks, Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci, do not seem like viable options to replace Wilson.
Wilson should have a better season with a capable coach, and it is unlikely that he will be benched, even if he doesn’t show significant improvement.
