A former ESPN sportscaster, Cordell Patrick, is in recovery after being ejected from his RV on a California freeway. The incident occurred on the 14 Freeway south of Newhall Avenue as Patrick and his wife were heading home to Valencia. The RV crossed the center median, ejecting Patrick onto the opposite side of the roadway.
Dashboard camera footage captured the dramatic incident, showing Patrick rolling multiple times after being thrown from the driver’s side window. Miraculously, both Patrick and his wife survived the crash via KTLA.
The couple was returning from a camping trip in Menifee at the time. Patrick revealed that he had unbuckled himself to use the restroom just seconds before the accident. Despite suffering serious injuries, including multiple bone fractures, a dislocated shoulder, road rash on 60% of his body, and head lacerations, Patrick considered his survival as “divine intervention.”

He expressed gratitude for being alive and emphasized the importance of a higher power.
Patrick’s wife, who blacked out during the crash, is undergoing medical testing. A good Samaritan, Alf Smithey, who stopped to help, found Patrick conscious and concerned about his wife’s well-being.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Patrick’s main focus was on the safety of his spouse. Transported to a local hospital in critical condition, Patrick credits his survival to the grace of God and considers it a divine intervention.
