Is ESPN known for stealing news from other sources and reporters?
A prominent former ESPN reporter has accused the network of “appropriating” news from other reporters. Brett McMurphy, previously a college football reporter at ESPN, is now affiliated with the Action Network.
The veteran ESPN reporter criticized ESPN’s coverage of the Michigan Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal, asserting that the network’s behavior is hypocritical.

“It’s ironic ESPN is hammering Michigan & Jim Harbaugh for sign-stealing when ESPN continually steals & fails to credit reporters & news organizations for news ESPN didn’t break, McMurphy stated.
McMurphy’s tweet has garnered nearly 20,000 likes and substantial support from Michigan fans.
Lately, ESPN has been intensely focused on Michigan, with personalities such as Stephen A. Smith and Paul Finebaum openly criticizing Jim Harbaugh. Smith has been advocating for a severe penalty from the Big Ten regarding the scandal, while Finebaum has expressed regret for supporting Harbaugh.
In the meantime, Michigan has maintained an undefeated 9-0 record for the season following a victory over Purdue on Saturday.
For a media giant like ESPN, it may be expected that they possess ample resources, making it unnecessary to rely on reports from external sources.
