Social media is the perfect place to vent.
Gina Luhnow, wife of former Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow, openly criticized the team and its owner, Jim Crane, during a discussion with fans on X this Thursday.
She responded to a fan’s tweet asking why the Astros had struggled after nearly a decade of success, by directly attributing the downturn to Crane’s decision to dismiss her husband.

Jeff Luhnow was instrumental in transforming the Astros into a formidable team during his eight-year tenure, culminating in a World Series win in 2017.
However, he was removed from his position in January 2020 following a one-year MLB suspension for not addressing the team’s illegal sign-stealing activities.
Despite his departure, the Astros maintained their competitive edge, reaching the ALCS for five consecutive seasons and capturing two more AL pennants and another World Series title in 2022 under James Click’s management.
This season, however, has seen a stark contrast as the Astros are seven games below .500 and trailing by 8 1/2 games in their division. Injuries have sidelined several key players, and stars like Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and José Abreu have underperformed. Additionally, the organization’s farm system is now ranked among the worst in the league, a point Gina Luhnow highlighted in her comments.
In November 2020, Jeff Luhnow sued the Astros for breach of contract, claiming he was made a scapegoat for the sign-stealing scandal. The lawsuit was settled a few months later after the parties reached an agreement.
Since his MLB suspension ended, Luhnow has not returned to baseball but has instead entered the soccer industry, owning two teams: Cancun FC in Mexico and Leganes, the Spanish second-division champions.
James Click, who succeeded Luhnow, parted ways with the Astros after their latest championship victory in 2022 due to a contractual disagreement with Crane.
