Well, somebody has Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s back.
Harrison Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker, has been facing quite a bit of backlash for remarks he made during a commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, suggesting that female graduates were most looking forward to becoming wives and mothers.

Butker said the following during his speech:
“You have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” and questioned how many were thinking about promotions and titles they would achieve in their careers. He added, “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
The kicker’s remarks, which also included criticisms of Pride Month and COVID policies, led to significant backlash, with calls for his removal from the team.
An online petition calling for Butker’s release has nearly 140,000 signatures, almost enough to fill Arrowhead Stadium, which seats around 76,000.
Five-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro defensive end Chris Jones has been teammates with Butker since 2017.
Jones took to X to offer his support for Butker which makes him the first teammate to do so.
“I love you @buttkicker7! My brotha”
The NFL condemned Butker’s speech in a statement and the Chiefs as an organization have yet to comment.
Despite being a seventh-round pick out of Georgia Tech in 2017, Harrison Butker has established himself as one of the NFL’s premier kickers.
Notably, he set a new franchise record for the Chiefs with a remarkable 62-yard field goal in 2022.
Butker’s contributions were pivotal in securing the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory in half a century in 2020.
He further solidified his legacy by aiding in their acquisition of a second Lombardi Trophy in 2023.
Most memorably, Butker’s field goal in February’s Super Bowl propelled the Chiefs to victory over San Francisco, forcing the game into overtime.
