Flavor Flav has found an admirer in Dr. Jill Biden.
The Public Enemy rapper, 65, met the First Lady, 73, on June 27 at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he is sponsoring the U.S. women’s water polo team. Their encounter was captured in a heartwarming video shared on social media.
“These girls are my girls, they work hard,” Flav said of the team after sharing a hug with Biden. He received praise from her and greeted some of her family members in the clip, which was posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“They got three back-to-back gold medals. I’m just trying to cheer them on to get that No. 4,” he continued, referring to the team’s gold medal victories at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games.
In a caption accompanying the video, Flav expressed his gratitude: “I love all the support Women’s Water Polo is getting. Ya boy is so appreciative that the First Lady came to the First Game. THANK YOU @flotus Dr. Jill Biden for all the support from you and your family.”
Biden then reposted his video on the platform, writing, “The duo you didn’t know you needed. Love you @FlavorFlav and thank you for all of your support for women’s @USAWP. Let’s go @TeamUSA!”

Their meeting occurred on the same day as the U.S. women’s water polo team’s preliminary match against Greece, which they won and Flav attended. He was also present, alongside filmmaker Spike Lee, during the July 29 preliminary match against Spain. At one point, after the U.S. team scored a late goal, Flav got on his feet to rally the crowd.
Flav shared a photo with Spike Lee from the match on X, writing, “Thankx to my brother Spike Lee for joining me at the @usawp Women’s Water Polo game today!”
The Grammy-winning rap icon previously spoke to PEOPLE about his decision to sponsor the U.S. women’s water polo team. His inspiration came from learning that many of the athletes, including team captain Maggie Steffens, work multiple jobs to support their Olympic dreams.
“There are a lot of women who just want a chance,” said the father of four daughters. “All they want to do is feel like they got a chance. So I just wanted to help out and give women that chance they are looking for.”
With his enthusiastic support and sponsorship, Flavor Flav has become a beloved figure for the U.S. women’s water polo team, demonstrating his commitment to promoting opportunities for female athletes and cheering them on to further success.
