One fantasy football player has suffered a devastating blow, as the infamous injury bug wreaked havoc on their entire roster. In a stunning turn of events, every player from this user’s Week 1 lineup has now been sidelined with injuries—except for the New Orleans Saints defense. The sheer volume of injuries has left the fantasy team in shambles and the player utterly shell-shocked.
This NFL season has already seen a wave of high-profile injuries across the league, many affecting star players who are critical to their real-life teams and highly coveted in fantasy football leagues. Unfortunately for this unlucky fantasy manager, nearly all of their key players have been among the injured.
It all started with a promising Week 1, where this fantasy team put up an impressive 145.2 points. At the time, the roster was fully healthy, and things looked bright. But what began as a strong start quickly turned into a nightmare as the dominoes of injuries started falling one by one.
Their quarterback, Jordan Love, who was poised for a breakout season, went down in the first week. Joining him was second-round draft pick, star wide receiver A.J. Brown, who also sustained an injury during a Week 1 game in Brazil. The losses didn’t stop there. Running backs Raheem Mostert and Kenneth Walker were sidelined as well, both unable to suit up for Week 2. Tight end David Njoku, another key piece of the puzzle, was forced to sit out as well, leaving the fantasy team scrambling for replacements.

With a patched-together lineup heading into Week 2, the situation only worsened. Kicker Graham Gano suffered an injury during the opening kickoff of the New York Giants’ game against the Washington Commanders, and to the fantasy owner’s dismay, Gano never returned.
As if things couldn’t get any worse, the two remaining healthy players on this user’s roster—star wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Cooper Kupp—also succumbed to injuries. By 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, both had left their respective games, leaving the fantasy owner with a decimated squad.
Amid all the chaos, the lone survivor on the fantasy team remains the New Orleans Saints defense, which has held strong through two games and, ironically, has been a bright spot for the fantasy owner. The Saints defense has kept this injury-riddled roster afloat, performing well as New Orleans boasts one of the top offenses in the league.
For the fantasy football player, however, the road ahead looks daunting. Many of the injured players will be out for multiple weeks, forcing the owner to dig deep into their bench—or even explore the waiver wire—just to field a nine-spot lineup for Week 3. With such a disastrous start to the season, the challenge of staying competitive in their league has become much more difficult.
There’s no word yet on whether any of the new players deployed in Week 2 managed to avoid the injury curse, but this fantasy manager will surely be holding their breath, hoping the worst is behind them.
