Travis Kelce made quite the impression at the Kansas City Sports Awards on Tuesday night, not just for his sharp all-black ensemble, but for his new slicked-back hairstyle that quickly became the talk of social media. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, known for his playful personality and bold fashion choices, paired his dark polo with a matching suit and his now-infamous training camp mustache. However, it was his longer, slicked-back locks that really caught the attention of fans, particularly Taylor Swift’s devoted followers, the Swifties.
Social media quickly lit up with reactions to Kelce’s new look. One user on X (formerly Twitter) quipped, “Travis’s hair is giving 1890s oil tycoon vibes,” while another questioned, “Travis honey, what happened to your hair?” Despite the mixed reactions, some fans were all in on Kelce’s neatly groomed style. “Travis in his rich dad look era, giving off ‘just bought a horse named after his billionaire girlfriend’ vibes tonight lol,” one fan joked, referencing Kelce’s new racehorse, aptly named Swift Delivery.
Interestingly, it was recently revealed by Kelce’s teammate, Patrick Mahomes, that Taylor Swift herself had a hand in convincing the NFL star to grow out his hair. This tidbit added an extra layer of intrigue to Kelce’s appearance at the awards, where he attended solo.

Kelce’s presence at the Kansas City Sports Awards came shortly after he was spotted leaving Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island home on a private jet late Monday night. The tight end had spent two days at her beachside mansion, enjoying what appeared to be a star-studded pool party celebrating Swift’s return from the European leg of her Eras Tour.
The guest list included the likes of Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, and fellow NFL stars Jason and Kylie Kelce and Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, along with their children.
At Tuesday’s banquet, Kelce was honored with the Polsinelli Sportsman of the Year award. Kathy Nelson, President and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission, praised Kelce and the other honorees, stating, “Together, these individuals and their organizations play a critical role in driving fan engagement, awareness, and opportunity for Kansas City.” While Swift wasn’t present at the event, her influence on Kelce’s life and style was clearly felt.
Over the past year, Swift has been a consistent supporter of Kelce, attending 13 Chiefs games, including the Super Bowl, often sporting team merchandise and other symbolic outfits.
With the Chiefs set to face the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener on Thursday, September 5, the excitement among “Tayvis” fans is palpable, promising a season kickoff full of energy and anticipation.
