Conor McGregor is shedding light on the authenticity of the fight scenes in the upcoming action movie “Road House.”
During filming, McGregor revealed to PEOPLE that the fight sequences took on a genuine intensity. Despite the presence of stunt doubles, McGregor, drawing from his background in MMA, brought a raw and realistic approach to his fight scenes with co-star Jake Gyllenhaal.
“It wasn’t fake fighting,” McGregor confessed at the New York City premiere of “Road House” on Tuesday. “I don’t think so. As someone who fights professionally, it felt very, very real. There were real blows exchanged.”
He elaborated, “I landed some solid hits, he landed some in return, and even the stuntmen who stepped in at times took some hefty shots as well.”
In a separate interview promoting the film on Amazon, McGregor’s appearance raised eyebrows as he displayed twitches and spasms while speaking. This led to speculation on social media, with some attributing his behavior to drug use or a hangover.

“Road House,” which also stars Jessica Williams, Post Malone, Daniela Melchior, Lukas Gage, Billy Magnussen, and Darren Barnet, is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
Amidst his busy promotional schedule for the film, McGregor’s physical condition has raised concerns. However, it’s hoped that his apparent fatigue is simply due to his hectic schedule, as he transitions from his MMA career to pursue opportunities in acting.
