Nike faced a significant oversight with Caitlin Clark’s merchandise following her selection as the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever.
Despite anticipation building for months, Nike-manufactured Indiana Fever jerseys featuring Clark’s name and number sold out in record time, leaving fans disappointed.
According to a notice on the Fanatics website, the jerseys are not expected to be shipped until August, which is a major letdown for fans eager to support Clark during her rookie season in the WNBA, which ends in September. The website’s disclaimer advises: “We are currently sold out of our initial batch of this jersey – if you choose to place a pre-order today, our restock will be available to ship in August due to Nike’s manufacturing times.”

The rapid sell-out occurred shortly after Clark was drafted, with most sizes of her jersey becoming unavailable on Fanatics within an hour. While it is not clear exactly how many jerseys were initially available, sizes ranging from extra small to double-extra large were quickly off the shelves.
Fans who manage to secure a jersey on pre-order will have them for only about a month of gameplay, as the Indiana Fever’s final regular-season game is slated for September 19. The season kicks off on May 14.
In addition to the jersey frenzy, Caitlin Clark is also on the verge of signing a landmark deal with Nike, which includes her own signature shoe, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Mike Vorkunov, and Ben Pickman. The deal is set to be a significant milestone, marking her influence both on and off the court.
