This Saturday’s edition of “College GameDay” featured a heartwarming moment that took a brief break from the usual football excitement. The spotlight shifted to a couple of Texas A&M fans who were ready to take a major step in their relationship, much to the delight of the crowd at College Station.
ESPN’s Jess Sims was mingling with the crowd when she found herself talking to two Texas A&M fans, Kyle and Erica. During the conversation, Sims asked a seemingly routine question: “How do you feel about y’all playing Texas tonight?” But little did Erica know, this question was just the setup for something much more special.
With a smile, Kyle responded, “That’s a fantastic question, but I have a better question.” He then got down on one knee, producing a ring, and asked, “Erica, will you marry me?”
The look on Erica’s face was priceless—a mix of surprise and joy. She truly didn’t see it coming, and her reaction said it all. Without hesitation, Erica said yes, sealing the moment with an enthusiastic embrace as the crowd erupted in cheers.
The fans at College Station went wild, celebrating the newly engaged couple as the emotional scene unfolded. The unexpected proposal added a special touch to an already electric atmosphere, making it a moment that fans and viewers alike won’t soon forget.
Adding to the wholesome atmosphere of the morning, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban was asked if he had any advice for the newly engaged couple. His response was as delightful as it was humorous.
“We’re going on 53 years,” Saban said, referring to his marriage to Miss Terry. “Miss Terry buys us coffee cups. My coffee cup says ‘Mr. Right.’ I said that sounds good. Her coffee cup says ‘Mrs. Never Wrong.'” The crowd couldn’t help but laugh at Saban’s lighthearted marriage advice, which perfectly fit the joyous occasion.

As the excitement of the proposal settled, all that remained for Kyle and Erica was to cheer on their beloved Aggies. The only thing that could make their day even better would be a Texas A&M victory over their rivals from Texas.
However, it looks like the Aggies will have a tough challenge ahead of them. ESPN’s computer model gives Texas a 77.2 percent chance of defeating Texas A&M, making the rivalry game an uphill battle for the Aggies.
The winner of this intense matchup will earn the chance to face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, adding even more weight to the already storied rivalry.
Kickoff for this much-anticipated game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and with the energy from this unexpected engagement fueling the crowd, there’s no doubt it will be an unforgettable evening for both Kyle, Erica, and every fan at College Station.
