Will the real Adam Schefter please stand up? A fake Adam Schefter account erroneously tweeted about Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. being under investigation for NFL’s gambling policy violation and receiving a lengthy suspension.

However, closer inspection reveals that the account, @adamscheftrrre, is not verified and has only been active on Twitter since February 2022, unlike the verified account, @AdamSchefter.
And…this is why you need to look in the name of the account, that's not actually Adam Schefter… figures fraudulent @nflrums would fall for it. pic.twitter.com/HkHMkGCU1z

While some may have believed fake Adam Schefter, it was relatively easily identifiable as fake. A genuine investigation was underway involving cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, but the fake account’s misleading tweet caused confusion among some social media users. It’s important to take a few seconds to verify the authenticity of information shared on Twitter.
Twitter is a sh*t show.
