Sometimes, not everyone is in on the joke.
ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington continues to playfully deceive his audience with his Animal House-inspired “Pearl Harbor” joke.
On Sunday, as the Miami Dolphins trailed the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany, Darlington resorted to the Animal House reference.

“A mere history lesson here in Germany should provide the Dolphins all the hope they need in the second half. After all… Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??” he tweeted.
Of course, this is a humorous reference from Animal House.
However, it seems that many are unaware of the reference.
This isn’t the first occasion Darlington has shared this joke on Twitter, and it’s not the first time he’s successfully fooled a considerable number of people either.
Somehow, with each use, it manages to become even more amusing.
At the start of the second half on Sunday, the Chiefs held a commanding 21-0 lead over the Dolphins.
Indeed, it seems the Dolphins will need a miracle to mount a comeback against the Chiefs in Germany. As for Darlington, perhaps next time he could consider providing some context when making a joke about Pearl Harbor.
