Erin Andrews reflected on her eventful 2023 season, highlighting a particularly poignant moment during a conversation with her colleague Charissa Thompson on their Calm Down podcast.
The Fox Sports sideline reporter delved into the emotional aspect of her profession, discussing the vulnerability inherent in the industry. Both Andrews and Thompson admitted to feeling emotional when they believed they had disappointed someone in their professional lives.
Andrews recounted a specific incident involving a player that deeply affected her for three consecutive days. The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding where the player anticipated an interview with her, but circumstances prevented it from happening.
“If it was something that involved a team or a player, you and I are so emotional and invested in our relationships with that.
“We’ve talked about it. If there was ever a situation and we felt so bad… like I had a situation where a certain player was coming up behind me and I didn’t know.
“He thought I was going to interview him and we had to get off air.
“It ruined my day for three straight days.
“I ended up having to call him and I was just like, I need you to know you’re like one of my favorite players and I was doing that because we had to get off air, not because I didn’t want to talk to you.”
