Fox NFL broadcast teammates Erin Andrews and Kevin Burkhardt recently found themselves in an unexpected and unpleasant situation during a flight that neither will forget anytime soon. The story began innocently enough, with Andrews and Burkhardt noticing a sweet couple sitting across the aisle from them with a dog.
Both Andrews and Burkhardt are self-proclaimed dog lovers, so they were initially delighted by the furry passenger. But as Andrews recounted on her podcast, the flight quickly took a turn for the worse.
“There is a lovely couple sitting next to us across the aisle, and we notice they have a dog,” Andrews began. “You’d think this story has a happy ending because Kevin and I are both huge dog people. But that’s not where this is going.”
Unfortunately, what started as a cute sight turned into a nightmare scenario. During the flight, the dog became violently ill, much to the horror of both its owners and the passengers nearby. “I look at Kevin, and I go, ‘Oh my god, oh my god, that dog just pooped in the aisle,'” Andrews recalled. But it wasn’t just a simple accident—the poor dog was having severe stomach issues.
“The dog didn’t just poop in the aisle,” Andrews explained. “The dog had a massive stomach issue on the plane, and it kept happening throughout the flight.”

As the flight continued, things only got worse. Andrews described how passengers around the dog, including herself and Burkhardt, had to turn on their air vents in an attempt to deal with the overwhelming smell. The dog’s illness also affected nearby luggage, as some unfortunate bags were caught in the crossfire.
“The smell was… intense,” Andrews said with a laugh, adding that it wasn’t just a one-time occurrence. “It kept happening until we landed.”
Despite the uncomfortable situation, Andrews praised the dog’s owners for handling the situation as best as they could under the circumstances. “The poor couple was mortified,” she shared. “But they handled it with grace. I mean, what could they do? It was awful for them too.”
For Andrews and Burkhardt, who spend much of their time traveling for work, this flight was one for the books. Both are seasoned travelers, but this experience was far from ordinary.
As Andrews humorously wrapped up her story, she expressed hope that her next flight would be far smoother. “I love dogs, but I really hope the next flight is a little less eventful!” she joked.
With Erin Andrews’ and Kevin Burkhardt’s busy schedules covering the NFL, it’s safe to say they’ll be on plenty of flights in the future—hopefully, with no repeat performances of this airborne mishap.
