What are Eli Manning’s thoughts on the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance?
Travis Kelce’s upcoming international plans to visit Taylor Swift during the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week have received the stamp of approval from Eli Manning. In a conversation with PEOPLE about their latest Quaker Oats campaign, both Archie and Eli Manning shared insights into NFL bye weeks, expressing their support for Kelce’s travel plans.
The Kansas City Chiefs, currently standing at 7-2 after nine weeks, are entering their bye week, providing Kelce the opportunity to join Taylor Swift abroad as she kicks off the South America leg of her Eras Tour, according to sources.
“I think the bye week is a great time to get away from football and I think that’s the idea,” Eli, 42, tells PEOPLE exclusively on Thursday. “It is the time to rest the body, rest the mind a little bit, recharge yourself to get ready for that second half of the season.”
Each of the 32 NFL teams is granted one bye week per season, during which they don’t participate in any games. The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled for their bye week in week 10. This break follows the team’s recent European victory in Germany, where they triumphed over the Miami Dolphins with a score of 21-14 on November 5th.

Following their return from Germany, the Chiefs’ bye week holds crucial importance for the players, offering an opportunity to “rest the body” and “rest the mind,” according to Eli Manning. He emphasizes that it’s a chance to step away from football, providing necessary respite in the midst of a demanding season.
In the NFL, teams typically enjoy “about four or five days off” during their bye week, shares Eli. Reflecting on his own bye week experiences as a retired New York Giants quarterback, he mentions activities like revisiting his college, watching important games, or spending time with family.
After this brief break, teams generally reconvene on Sunday or Monday before the upcoming game, engaging in practices to reacclimate to the rhythm of play. Eli acknowledges that a quarterback’s approach during the bye week might differ from that of other players.
Eli Manning notes that bye weeks are “obviously not a time to go party and celebrate,” mentioning places like Las Vegas. However, he sees nothing “wrong” with Travis Kelce’s decision to travel to South America during this break. Eli acknowledges that players have different ways of unwinding, and as long as it doesn’t interfere with their readiness for the upcoming games, he sees it as a reasonable choice.
“I think for him to travel, there’s nothing wrong with traveling, going somewhere,” says Eli. “Hey, if he wants to go and support his girlfriend and see her play a concert, I’ve got no problem with that.”
According to sources, Travis Kelce is set to travel to South America to support Taylor Swift during her upcoming Eras Tour stops. Taylor Swift has three shows scheduled in Buenos Aires from Thursday through Saturday, and the NFL star plans to make time in his schedule to attend these performances.
Good luck to Travis on getting some rest and relaxation.
