Several members of the Philadelphia Eagles sat in silence and tears as they watched their beloved center, Jason Kelce, announce his retirement in front of a few TVs in the team’s cafeteria, according to a report by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Garafolo shared an image of the somber scene at NovaCare Complex, the Eagles’ practice facility in South Philadelphia, on Monday. The atmosphere was described as quiet, with the only sound being that of people crying.
‘The scene in the #Eagles’ cafeteria during Jason Kelce’s speech. Quiet the whole time, I’m told, except for the sound of people crying,’ Garafolo tweeted alongside a photo of the emotional moment captured on camera.
While some fans on social media understood the emotional response, others expressed differing opinions. One user pointed out, ‘He didn’t die lol,’ while another simply said, ‘Please.’

However, many acknowledged the significance of Kelce’s impact and leadership, noting the respect he garnered from both teammates and staff alike. ‘That’s all the information you ever need to know about Jason Kelce and the kind of man and leader he is,’ one person remarked.
Kelce, the older brother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, concluded his 13-year NFL career with the Eagles. During his tenure, he won a Super Bowl in 2018, earned seven Pro Bowl selections, and was named a first-team All-Pro six times.
In an emotional retirement news conference, Kelce reflected on his underdog mentality and the joy of proving doubters wrong throughout his career. He expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and family for their support over the years.
Kelce holds several franchise records for the Eagles, including consecutive starts (156) and most regular season games played by an offensive lineman (193). His impact on and off the field will be remembered by Eagles fans for years to come.
