Sports teams often develop peculiar superstitions, and it appears that a potential new one might be emerging for the Philadelphia Eagles.
In the midst of the thrilling 28-23 Eagles victory over the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month, while most fans were captivated by the game, keen observers couldn’t help but spot the red thong worn by a staffer who took a tumble during the match.

The individual in question, Matt Leo, the defensive and football operations assistant, acknowledged the incident but clarified that the so-called ‘thong’ was, in fact, a fortunate pair of red and white boxer briefs.
Following the Eagles’ triumph over the Chiefs on Monday night, Leo took to his Instagram story to showcase the said briefs, playfully referring to them as a thong in his caption.
Standing at an impressive 6 feet 7 inches, Leo, a former defensive end, spent the majority of his playing career on the practice squad and never participated in an NFL game. He retired in July 2023 and seamlessly transitioned into a coaching role.
It seems like Leo may have discovered his true calling on the sidelines.
Now, the question remains whether Eagles fans will fully embrace this newfound superstition surrounding the lucky red “thong.”
