This story serves as a reminder that appearances can be deceiving.
During the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, social media was abuzz with speculation about a man spotted on the Eagles’ sideline wearing a red thong.
It seemed like an unusual choice of underwear, but the individual in question, identified as Matt Leo, clarified that this was not the case.
Matt Leo holds a role as the team’s defensive and football operations assistant. Hailing from Australia, he originally joined the Eagles as a defensive end through the International Player Pathway Program in 2020. Before venturing into the NFL, he had a background in rugby and Australian rules football, and he worked as a plumber.

Despite never making it to a regular season NFL game, Matt Leo spent time on the practice squad before announcing his retirement earlier this year. To set the record straight, he took to Instagram to explain that he was not wearing women’s underwear but rather boxer briefs from the brand PSD.
These boxer briefs featured a red and white waistband that blended with the color of his skin. PSD boasts a roster of notable athletes, including Aaron Jones, Tyler Herro, and Bronny James, suggesting that Leo might have a sponsorship deal in the works.
While the incident garnered attention, it’s likely that Matt Leo will be remembered more for the brief confusion surrounding his choice of underwear than for any other updates in his career.
