Browns left guard Joel Bitonio expressed his dissatisfaction with some of the Eagles’ players during Tuesday’s joint practice, accusing them of taking cheap shots.
Specifically, Bitonio called out Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat for knocking the ball out of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s hand, which is considered inappropriate during practice as quarterbacks are not meant to be touched.
Bitonio emphasized that quarterbacks should be off-limits during practice, stating, “You’re not supposed to do that.”
He added, “I mean it’s just in our practice, you protect the quarterback,” he said via Cleveland.com. “You don’t want to come close to the quarterback, you don’t want to take cheap shots, things like that where there might’ve been a couple of questionable plays both ways today.”

Tuesday marked the second day of joint practice between the Eagles and Browns.
Bitonio mentioned that having only two days is a good decision, as having three days could potentially escalate into a more intense showdown.
Reflecting on the situation, Bitonio said, “Oh yeah,” he said. “I mean that’s why you do two days because three days it’d be a blood bath the last day, so even two days gets a little bit chippy the second day. You go back, you watch the film, you’re like, oh, we’ve got to do this better, or they got to do this better, and the next day’s going to be a little bit more ramped up.”
The Eagles and Browns are scheduled to face off in a preseason game on Thursday night.
