During his recent appearance on the popular podcast It Is What It Is with Cam’ron and Mase, Paul Pierce initiated a debate about his standing amongst the other basketball greats of his era.
Reflecting on his career, Pierce expressed confidence that if he had been placed in similar situations as Dwyane Wade, he too would have multiple championships to his name.
He specifically mentioned playing alongside Shaq, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh, questioning how they couldn’t have achieved great success together.
“Put Shaq [O’Neal] on my team. Put LeBron [James] and [Chris] Bosh with me. I’m not gonna win one?” Pierce said. “Put me, LeBron and Bosh… we not gonna win a couple?” Pierce added: “For a long time, my skills went unappreciated because I didn’t get to play with a lot of great players. And then I got to play with KG [Kevin Garnett] and Ray [Allen] past their prime. Four years earlier, you put me, Ray, and KG together, you think we’re not walking away with three ‘ships?”

Pierce emphasized that his skills were often overlooked because he didn’t have the opportunity to play with many exceptional players until later in his career with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, albeit when they were past their prime.
Wade responded to Pierce’s comments during an interview with Miami sportswriter Dan LeBatard, playfully stating that he’s “living rent free” in Pierce’s mind.
“I mean listen, rent is expensive in America, and I’m living rent free. I like living rent free,” Wade said. “It’s documented. I don’t need to say anything. Everything is documented.”

He indicated that their contrasting achievements are well-documented and require no further explanation.
