Kevin Porter Jr., who currently enjoys a career in the NBA, may find his future in the league hanging by a thread following disturbing allegations involving his girlfriend.
The Houston Rockets’ guard found himself in legal trouble when he was arrested on Monday and charged with assaulting his girlfriend in a New York hotel.
According to a police report, the incident unfolded as he allegedly returned to the Millennium Hotel in Times Square, where he had been staying with his girlfriend, during the early hours of Monday morning. His late return had left her upset, leading her to lock him out of their room.
Upon regaining entry to the room with the assistance of hotel security, Porter allegedly assaulted her. Consequently, he now faces charges of assault and strangulation.
Meanwhile, Kysre Gondrezick, his girlfriend and former WNBA player, has garnered support from her sister, Kalabrya Haskins.
She has taken to Instagram, expressing her readiness to fight for justice over this incident, and she has issued a strong warning to Porter for harming her sister.

In response to these developments, the Houston Rockets issued a statement on Monday afternoon, stating, “We are in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr. We have no further comment at this time.”
Porter was originally drafted as the 30th overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft from the University of Southern California, and he has since risen to prominence as a star player for the Rockets. In the 2022-23 season, he recorded his career-best stats with averages of 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
As for Gondrezick, she had a collegiate basketball career with stints at Michigan and West Virginia.
She was selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever, where she played for one season before being waived. She has not played in the last two WNBA seasons and is currently a free agent.
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Kalabrya Haskins, who was married to the late Dwayne Haskins, filed a lawsuit alleging that Haskins was drugged, blackmailed, and robbed before he tragically died in a collision with a dump truck in South Florida on April 9, 2022.
