Kyle Filipowski seems to have softened his stance on tripping opponents during basketball games.
During Duke’s recent game against North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C., Filipowski was caught pulling a questionable move. When Harrison Ingram of the Tar Heels missed a shot and fell to the ground, Filipowski, instead of helping him up, tripped him as he tried to get back into the action.
This action was widely condemned as dirty, made worse by Filipowski’s attempt to play it off as if he was the one who had been injured.

Interestingly, this incident comes on the heels of another controversy involving Filipowski. Just recently, he was allegedly injured when a Wake Forest student, celebrating the Demon Deacons’ upset win over Duke, bumped into him during a court storming. The incident sparked outrage, with some, including Duke head coach Jon Scheyer, calling for a ban on court storming. However, Filipowski quickly recovered from his supposed injury and was back to playing at full strength.
Given this recent controversy, it’s worth examining Scheyer’s stance on his players’ actions, particularly when it comes to intentionally tripping opponents—a behavior not uncommon among Duke players.
