Drew Bledsoe, the former New England Patriots quarterback famously replaced by Tom Brady, isn’t done having a little fun at Brady’s expense. Known for his good-natured ribbing, Bledsoe has once again taken a playful jab at his former teammate, this time targeting Brady’s upcoming debut as an NFL commentator for Fox Sports.
Bledsoe recently appeared on “Good Morning Football” and took the opportunity to joke about Brady’s transition to broadcasting. With Brady set to join Fox’s top NFL broadcast team this year, Bledsoe quipped about the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s voice. “I know that Tommy will work it to death,” Bledsoe said. “I will get kind of tired of his squeaky-ass voice… But I know he’ll do a great job calling the games.”
Despite the teasing, Bledsoe made it clear that he expects Brady to excel in his new role alongside seasoned commentator Kevin Burkhardt.
The comment was all in good fun, much like Bledsoe’s previous jabs at Brady.

Earlier this year, during a Netflix roast, Bledsoe had taken a more direct shot at Brady, humorously referencing both his NFL career and his personal life. “Hey look, buddy, you have more rings than I do,” Bledsoe joked, “but I’ve experienced a couple of things that you will never experience: the feeling of being the No. 1 overall draft pick in the NFL, and a 28th wedding anniversary. It was yesterday.”
The roast allowed Bledsoe to showcase his comedic chops, and he later revealed to the “GMFB” crew that he wasn’t particularly nervous about delivering his jokes. He mentioned that the most preparation he’d ever done for a public appearance was for that event, largely because his family was so anxious about what he might say.
“My kids each individually called me and said, ‘Alright, dad, what are you going to say?’ because they were so nervous,” Bledsoe recounted. “All I hear from you are bad dad jokes and super inappropriate stuff at inappropriate times.” Despite the family’s concerns, Bledsoe’s jokes landed well, though he admitted that his wife did veto one line that he wisely chose not to share with the public.
As the NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on Brady as he transitions from the field to the broadcast booth. Fans and former teammates alike are eager to see how the legendary quarterback will fare in his new role. Whether or not his voice becomes tiresome, as Bledsoe jokingly predicted, remains to be seen.
One thing is certain: Bledsoe’s lighthearted jabs are a testament to the enduring friendship and camaraderie between the two former Patriots, even after all these years.
