Draymond Green has long expressed his dislike for Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert.
Following the Timberwolves’ defeat in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday, Green once again took aim at Gobert.
The Timberwolves lost 109-108 after Luka Doncic sank a decisive three-pointer over Gobert in the final moments at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After making the shot, Doncic also engaged in some memorable trash talk directed at Gobert.
Post-game, Doncic appeared on the “Inside the NBA” panel. As the discussion turned to his shot against Gobert, panelist Draymond Green was met with chants of “Draymond sucks” from some Timberwolves fans.
“Rudy sucks, not me,” Green retorted. “What did I do? I didn’t do anything. Why are they targeting me? [Luka Doncic] is the one who took them down, not me.”
Green’s ongoing feud with Gobert is well-known, and he has frequently seized opportunities to criticize Gobert.
Earlier in the season, Green notoriously placed Gobert in a chokehold, resulting in a significant suspension for Green.
Despite the criticism, Gobert’s performance in Game 2 was solid, according to the statistics: he scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, making 6 out of 10 shots. However, the mockery he faced, likely to continue if the Timberwolves cannot recover in the series, may be particularly harsh.
