Following UConn’s triumph in securing the national championship on Monday night, Donovan Clingan mirrored Zach Edey’s iconic gesture.
Contributing 11 points and 5 rebounds to the Huskies’ commanding 75-60 victory over Purdue at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Clingan and his teammates relished the traditional moment of cutting down the net following their back-to-back title win.
Despite his towering stature at 7-foot-2, Clingan eschewed the use of a ladder, opting instead to extend his arms upward, reminiscent of Edey’s memorable feat.

Edey, standing at an impressive 7-foot-4, had similarly reached for the net after guiding Purdue to a Final Four appearance. However, his aspirations for a national championship were dashed by UConn’s successive triumphs.
As a sophomore, Clingan’s presence on the team suggests a promising future, likely setting the stage for another compelling campaign with the Huskies in the upcoming season.
