Donna Kelce recently opened up about why she believes Taylor Swift is the perfect match for her son, Travis Kelce. During an exclusive interview at the New York City premiere of Grotesquerie—a new Ryan Murphy drama series in which the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has a role—Donna shared her thoughts on the high-profile relationship between her son and the pop star.
“I think it’s kind of interesting,” Donna said to Page Six when asked about Travis and Taylor’s blossoming romance. She was quick to praise her son’s character, noting, “He’s a good guy. He really is. He’s kind, he’s generous, and from what I understand, so is she.” Donna added that she hopes the couple is “having a good time” together, expressing her genuine support for the relationship.
While speaking about her son’s venture into acting with Grotesquerie, Donna couldn’t hide her pride. “Oh, it’s so awesome,” she said, excited to see Travis branching out into new areas. “Just to be able to see your kids do what they absolutely love to do, and hopefully this is something he likes! I know he wanted to try [acting], so we’ll see how it goes.” Donna emphasized how important it is for her children to pursue their passions, revealing that she’s always told them, “If you do something you love to do, you will get really good at it.”
At 71, Donna has seen both of her sons, Travis and Jason Kelce, rise to the pinnacle of their respective careers, with Travis winning multiple Super Bowls with the Chiefs and Jason enjoying a celebrated career with the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring. The brothers have also found tremendous success off the field, launching their hit podcast, New Heights, which has skyrocketed in popularity.

Reflecting on her sons’ remarkable journey, Donna described it as “a whirlwind.” She recalled how everything changed when both Travis and Jason’s teams made it to Super Bowl LVII in February 2023.
Travis and his Chiefs narrowly defeated Jason and the Eagles in a thrilling 38-35 victory. “It’s just been taking off,” Donna said, marveling at how her sons’ careers have exploded in the past couple of years. “I just can’t believe what’s happened over the last couple years.”
Though Taylor Swift wasn’t present at Travis’ recent game against the Atlanta Falcons, where the Chiefs won 22-17, she has been spotted supporting him at several games since the pair began dating last year. The global pop star has even sat with Donna and her husband, Ed Kelce, during these matchups, solidifying her connection with the family.
Donna also revealed a fun detail about her showing support for both her son and Swift at a recent game. For the Chiefs’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, she wore a custom baseball cap decorated with holly sprigs and white cosmos—flowers that symbolize Travis and Taylor’s birth months, October and December, respectively.
As for Travis’s latest endeavor in Grotesquerie, Donna is hopeful that her son’s foray into acting will be as successful as his football career.
While she acknowledged it’s still too early to tell if acting is something Travis will fall in love with, she noted that his background in sports makes him “very coachable,” which could give him an advantage in this new venture.
With the Kelce brothers continuing to excel on and off the field and Travis’s relationship with Taylor Swift in the spotlight, Donna’s pride in her sons and excitement for what lies ahead is evident. Grotesquerie is set to premiere on FX this Wednesday, followed by its release on Hulu the next day
