On Thanksgiving, the Dallas Cowboys, in keeping with their tradition, took to the field, but the halftime spectacle featuring Dolly Parton became the talk of the town.
Dressed in the iconic Cowboys cheerleader outfit, the 77-year-old country music legend performed at midfield, treating the audience to renditions of her hits, including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and her unique take on Queen’s “We Are The Champions.”
This marked Parton’s second appearance on the football field in less than a week, as she had joined NFL great Peyton Manning during Tennessee’s game against top-ranked Georgia. At that event, she led the crowd in singing “Rocky Top” at the end of the first quarter.
Following her Thanksgiving performance, Parton expressed her gratitude, saying, “Well, I couldn’t hear, but I love the song! I just want you to know how proud I am to be here and thank you so much for taking special attention to do whatever we do. And I had a little trouble with hearing, but we know ‘Rocky Top,’ and that song was written by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, and Dale. Their son is in the stadium tonight. So I guess we’ll play ball! Thank you!”
The Cowboys dominated the game against the Washington Commanders, securing a 45-10 victory and extending their home winning streak to 13. Quarterback Dak Prescott played a key role, throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns, with the Dallas offense scoring 25 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, bringing their season record to 8-3.

On the other hand, the loss marked the Washington Commanders’ eighth in the last ten games, leaving them with a 4-8 season record. Receiver Terry McLaurin acknowledged falling short on Thanksgiving, stating, “We just got beat by a lot of points on Thanksgiving. The game was within reach. And we just didn’t make the necessary plays to kind of put the ball in the end zone and do our part. So that’s never a good feeling.”
The NFL action continues today with a game between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.
