During a recent interview with Elle magazine, Normani, the 27-year-old singer, participated in a playful game called “Phoning It In,” where she was tasked with random challenges—one of which involved reciting lyrics from her sultry 2021 hit “Wild Side” to someone over the phone.
Without hesitation, she chose her boyfriend, Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf, as the recipient of these lyrics.
“That’s gonna get pretty intense,” Normani remarked, aware of the song’s risqué content.
Upon calling Metcalf, Normani dove straight into the lyrics, saying, “I’m ready to pull up on you.”
Metcalf, slightly puzzled, responded, “In Seattle?”
Trying to keep her composure, Normani replied, “Yeah, I’m ready to do what I do,” which only added to his confusion as he asked, “What are you talking about?”
The conversation heated up when Normani followed up with, “Shoot your shot, ’cause I’m bulletproof.” Metcalf, catching on to the playful tone, retorted: “Oh, well then come on, say it to me again.”

After sharing a laugh and covering her mouth in amusement, Normani revealed to Metcalf via FaceTime that it was all part of a game for Elle. Metcalf, enjoying the fun, playfully insisted they continue.
“Babe, we’re all here,” Normani explained as she showed him the camera crew. “I had to call you and recite my lyrics but they’re a little provocative so you were the only person that I could call. I love you.”
“I love you too, but why we gotta stop?” Metcalf replied, keeping the banter going.
Normani laughed it off and urged him to stop, saying after they hung up, “Y’all are doing too much and got me nervous.”
Normani and Metcalf have been relatively private about their relationship, which first came to public attention when Normani confirmed it on social media at a wedding they attended last summer. The couple was also spotted together at the celebrity dining spot Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif., in June 2022.
Normani’s debut solo album, “Dopamine,” is slated for release on June 14, while Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowler, is gearing up for his sixth season with the Seattle Seahawks.
