NC State’s DJ Burns found some amusement at Duke’s Jared McCain’s expense following their Elite Eight showdown on Sunday.
In a dominant performance, Burns and the Wolfpack asserted their dominance in the paint against the Blue Devils, securing a commanding 76-64 victory at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. NC State notably outpaced Duke 38-26 in points scored inside the shaded area.
After the game, Burns took to Instagram to share a clip showcasing his teammate DJ Horne sinking a three-pointer after completely outmaneuvering McCain. The Instagram story also featured a humorously edited video of McCain dancing inserted into the highlight.
It seemed that Burns was poking fun at McCain, who has gained recognition for his dance routines on TikTok. The Duke standout has frequently faced criticism for his TikTok performances and his painted fingernails over the years.
Despite the jesting, McCain displayed a formidable performance against NC State, tallying 32 points while sinking all 11 of his free throw attempts. Additionally, he contributed 6 rebounds and knocked down 5 three-pointers.
However, Burns stole the spotlight with his exceptional performance, recording 29 points on 13-of-19 shooting, alongside 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. His stellar display even earned praise from Denver Nuggets’ MVP Nikola Jokic.
