During a recent warmup, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen accidentally hit and killed a bird with one of his pitches. Despite being compared to Randy Johnson in the past, Gallen did not intentionally cause harm to the animal.
While practicing his pitches before the game against the Oakland A’s on Wednesday afternoon, a bird flew between Gallen and his teammate, resulting in the unfortunate incident.

Bally Sports reported that the hit was fatal and that Gallen felt bad about what happened.
This is not the first time a bird has been hit by a baseball during warmups, with former Yankees outfielder Dave Winfield even being arrested for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal after hitting a seagull during a game in 1983.
Pour one out for the bird.
