Looks like someone made a major gaffe.
On Monday, Arizona Diamondbacks broadcaster Steve Berthiaume made a lighthearted but notable mistake that quickly went viral on social media.
The Diamondbacks were trailing the Nationals by six runs in the third inning when the broadcast resumed after a break. The cameras focused on a group of teenagers enthusiastically cheering in the stands. Berthiaume’s attention was drawn to one shirt in particular.
“Alright, I found my new favorite T-shirt ever,” Berthiaume exclaimed. “The guy on the right [whose shirt read], ‘I can’t, I’m a moron.’ There it is, on tape and everything for the director. They’ll use that and wear it out.”

However, Berthiaume didn’t notice that the shirt actually read, “I can’t, I’m a Mormon.”
Social media users were quick to react to the blunder. “Now you gotta get the Jomboy team to make that shirt and send him one,” one user wrote on X after the footage surfaced.
“I’m a Mormon and I can’t stop laughing,” another user added, accompanied by a crying laughing emoji.
Taking a more satirical approach, another commented, “This comment perfectly describes the entire career of Steve Berthiaume.”
The shirt’s message refers to the strict lifestyle guidelines that Mormons follow, which include abstaining from activities like drinking, drugs, premarital sex, swearing, and gambling, all in an effort to maintain their health and moral integrity.
Ironically, Berthiaume’s error seemed to come at a fortuitous moment. Following the mistake, the Diamondbacks staged a dramatic comeback, rallying to a 9-8 victory over the Nationals.
Adding to the excitement, Berthiaume made a thrilling call on Corbin Carroll’s first-ever walk-off home run. “It’s gone! It’s gone,” he shouted. “And they walk it off. They were down 6-0, and they win 9-8!”
Despite the initial blunder, Berthiaume’s enthusiastic broadcasting and the team’s remarkable comeback turned the incident into a memorable and ultimately positive moment for Diamondbacks fans.
