Malika Andrews is facing criticism for her apparent lack of commentary on a specific issue.
Amid ongoing allegations about Josh Giddey’s involvement with a young girl, social media users have expressed dissatisfaction with Malika Andrews’ handling of the situation. The controversy surrounding the Australian shooting guard from the Oklahoma City Thunder continues to unfold, with additional videos and photos of him and the girl emerging on social media.

Andrews has come under fire for her coverage of the issue, with some fans suggesting that the criticism may be influenced by race, given her tendency to discuss negative aspects involving Black players. This sentiment was fueled by her previous mention of former Alabama Crimson Tide star Brandon Miller on the night of the NBA Draft concerning a gun allegedly used by one of his teammates in a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa. Miller reportedly had no knowledge of the weapon’s intended use in a shooting.
Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant expressed dissatisfaction with Andrews, both for bringing up Miller and for her response (or lack thereof) regarding Giddey.
“Why haven’t you said anything about Josh Giddey,” he tweeted, advising against turning it into a racial issue. He continued, “Your parents really raised you wrong, and just because you went to a private school doesn’t make you better.”
The criticism is not directed at specific statements made by Malika but rather at her silence on the matter, especially given her previous outspokenness on issues involving NBA players of a different race.
While she finally addressed the matter on Monday, some observers noted that she appeared uncomfortable doing so. Malika typically does not respond to backlash, and it is expected that she will likely ignore this wave of criticism as well. Responding, in her case, tends to exacerbate the situation and prolong its duration. However, the focus on Malika as the sole target of criticism remains a point of confusion for many.
