Is this really an injury?
Detroit Lions backup quarterback Hendon Hooker was activated from the injured reserve list last month after tearing his ACL while playing for the Tennessee Volunteers last year.
Barring something catastrophic, Hooker won’t see the field when the Lions take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship as Hooker is not only behind starter Jared Goff, but second-string quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as well.

He’s an active player though so that doesn’t exclude him from being included on the injury report, and the reason for the inclusion is bizarre to say the least.
Here’s the report from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport,
“Hendon Hooker makes the injury report… because he had a chipped tooth pulled. That’s a new one. (He’ll be fine.)”
The assumption is that Hooker will be able to take the field in case of an absolute emergency at the quarterback position for the Lions, and if that’s the case then the Lions chances of making the Super Bowl will be slim to none.
After starring at the University of Tennessee, Hooker fell in the 2023 NFL Draft after suffering a torn ACL in 2022 as he was selected in the third round by the Lions. He has yet to play a snap in the NFL.
