Gosh that buzzing sound during the US Open telecast was annoying.
The origin of the irritating buzzing noise heard during the recent U.S. Open golf tournament broadcast has been uncovered.
Several complained that a plane circling above was the source of the disruptive noise. It has been suggested that the aircraft could have been utilized for broadcast purposes due to its registration with a company focused on aerial camera and production support.

The plane is registered to Island Century Media LLC, which does aerial camera and production support. So I assume it's being used for the broadcast, but I’m not 100% sure.

Of course it was a source of frustration for viewers:
It’s insufferable

I heard the buzzing sound yesterday on the US Open broadcast, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as it is today. On my TV, I can barely make out what the commentators are saying. What the hell is going on out there?

The LACC’s inaugural U.S. Open event received criticism from fans for its atmosphere prior to the buzzing plane incident, which only exacerbated the issue.
29-year-old Wyndham Clarke triumphed over several notable golfers to win his first major tournament and a sizeable purse of $3.6 million.
Despite being a relatively unknown player who had never placed higher than 75th in previous major competitions, Clarke credited the Los Angeles Country Club for his victory. Guess the buzzing didn’t bother Clarke at all.
