Derek Jeter has successfully sold his distinctive mansion in upstate New York after reducing the original asking price by over $8 million.
Initially listed at $14.75 million in 2018, the property known as Tiedemann Castle, located less than 50 miles from New York City, ultimately sold for $6.3 million. The nearly 9,000-square-foot residence sits on a four-acre estate and boasts a medieval aesthetic.
The new owner, who remains unnamed, acquired this “magical property” with “extensive lake views” and a history of being “lovingly restored beyond its original grandeur,” according to Mansion Global.
The estate is not just about the main house; it also includes a guesthouse, a pool house, and a boathouse. Among the luxurious amenities are an infinity edge pool, a private lagoon, a stone waterfall, and even a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Despite modern renovations, the home retains its unique character with wood paneling, beamed ceilings, and iron chandeliers, captured in photos by Stephen Dolinsky.

Jeter, a former New York Yankees star, bought the home in 2003 for only $425,000 and invested nearly $3 million in renovations.
The property has sentimental value for Jeter, as his grandfather, William “Sonny” Conners, was adopted by the former owners.
The sale marks Jeter’s ongoing transition from baseball to broadcasting, with this being the second major property he has sold in recent years.
In May 2021, he sold his Tampa, Florida, mansion for $22.5 million, a significant drop from the initial $29 million asking price, although it still represented a substantial profit over the $2.3 million he paid in 2005. This Tampa home, spanning 22,000 square feet with features including a wine cellar, movie theater, and professional gym, was previously leased to Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, who moved out due to privacy concerns.
