Deion Sanders is employing unique motivational tactics to inspire his team.
During Thursday’s meeting, the Hall of Famer shared a video with his players that illustrated the distinction between cows and buffalo. In the end, he delivered a clear message to his team: “We need some Buffaloes, we don’t need any cows.”
Sanders embarked on a philosophical journey to explain the characteristics of these two types of livestock. He pointed out that cows tend to flee from storms, while buffalo charge into the face of fury. He then redirected the message towards the current state of the Buffs.

“I’m seeking 22 individuals in this entire room, spanning offense, defense, and special teams, including the coaches, who are willing to run into the storm. Charge right in.”
The Colorado Buffaloes are aiming to achieve a perfect record in the final month of the season, as they seek to rebound from two recent losses. The first was a blown lead against Stanford just before a bye week, and the second was a closely contested game at the Rose Bowl against No. 23 UCLA last Saturday. Colorado let victory slip through their fingers in one game and kept the other much tighter than expected.
In another late game for the Buffaloes, they face off against No. 16 Oregon State in Boulder at 10 p.m. ET for Homecoming, with coverage on ESPN.
It remains to be seen how Deion’s unconventional motivational strategies will influence the Buffaloes.
